17 Complete Crisis Intervention Training

The 10th Johnston County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training academy was held August 10-14th. It was the largest class to date, with 17 people completing the course.

Since December 2011, 110 law enforcement officers and other first responders have become certified CIT Officers through the Johnston County Mental Health Center and Johnston Community College. More than 89 of those are from Johnston County agencies.

Last year Johnston County trained 20 people over the span of three training academies. This year, that number increased to 32 people trained over the span of two training academies. Officials say they are looking forward to continued growth in the CIT Program in Johnston County.
