4th Johnston County Restaurant Robbed This Month

Smithfield Police are investigating their third restaurant robbery this month. Clayton Police are investigating a similar incident. 

Just before 11:00am Sunday, a lone black male armed with a shotgun entered the Pizza Hut at 725 North Brightleaf Boulevard.  The suspect ordered everyone inside to the floor then stole money from the safe and the cash register before fleeing in an unknown vehicle.  An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

The suspect was a tall slender built black male, wearing all black clothing, a jacket with a black hood, and a bandana over his face. 

On July 5th, a lone black male armed with a gun robbed Checker’s located at 1691 East Market Street, taking an undisclosed amount of money at gunpoint. The business was just closing for the night.  Just as employees for Smithfield Chicken N BBQ, located at 924 North Brightleaf Boulevard, were closing on July 11th, a lone black male armed with a handgun robbed the business.

And on July 17th, two men armed with handguns robbed the Burger King on US70 at Boling Street in Clayton. The robbers forced everyone to the floor before taking money.

The first suspect was a black male, approximately 6 foot tall, average to skinny built, wearing a black long sleeve shirt or hoodie and dark pants. The second suspect was a black male, wearing a gray hoodie sweat shirt, blue jeans, and gray tennis shoes.
