6th Restaurant Robbery Reported

Wendys Robbery 2For the sixth time in 5 weeks, a Johnston County fast food restaurant has been robbed.
 
Around 8:30pm Saturday, two black males wearing dark clothing and bandanas across their faces entered Wendy’s on Highway 210 at I-40 outside of Benson and at gunpoint took an undisclosed amount of money from the store’s safe.

On July 30th, two men wearing black hoodies and bandanas tried to rob the nearby McDonald’s at the same intersection.

On July 26th, a lone gunman robbed the Pizza Hut at 725 North Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield.

On July 17th, two men armed with handguns robbed the Burger King on US70 at Boling Street in Clayton. The robbers forced everyone to the floor before taking money.

On July 5th, a lone black male armed with a gun robbed Checker’s located at 1691 East Market Street. Six days later, on July 11th, Smithfield Chicken N BBQ, located at 924 North Brightleaf Boulevard, was robbed by a lone black male armed with a handgun.

Johnston County deputies, Smithfield Police, and Clayton Police are investigating the robberies. Officials have not said if they think the incidents are connected.
