Banks Plan Softball Game To Benefit Camp Challenge

Two local community banks are coming together for a different kind of competition to support a great cause.

You are invited to Selma Middle School on April 27th at 6:30 PM for the “Battle of the Banks” softball game between Four Oaks Bank and KS Bank.  Admission to the game is either a monetary donation or a donation of needed supplies to benefit Camp Challenge.  We will also be selling hot dogs, drinks and baked goodies at the concession stand.  All proceeds and donated items will directly benefit Camp Challenge.  Not able to attend the game, but want to help?  You can bring your monetary donation or donate supplies at any office of KS Bank or Four Oaks Bank.

The North Carolina Bankers Association Foundation’s Camp Challenge is a week-long summer camp experience for high-achieving, low-resource students from across North Carolina.  Each year, hundreds of students attend Camp Challenge at no cost to their families, thanks to donations from many generous partners.  Camp Challenge is located at Y Camp Weaver in Greensboro, North Carolina.

While at camp, students not only participate in a variety of outdoor and other activities, they also participate in an engaging personal finance course, which includes interactive activities and discussion on topics relevant to middle school students, such as automobile purchases, entrepreneurship, income and careers, and even financing education. Students also practice basic etiquette, as well as reading, writing and speaking skills.

Improved financial education leads to improved citizens, improved communities, and ultimately, improved economics.  Camp Challenge provides an opportunity for young citizens to begin learning about personal finance and their roles in local and global economies.  This program and the financial literacy course have a true impact in North Carolina by facilitating early communication within families and among children.  Armed with financial education, campers go on to become successful students and citizens.

Camp Challenge is in need of the following items for campers:  twin sheets, towels, pillows, sleeping bags, travel size toiletries such as deodorant, tooth brushes, toothpaste.  Also needed are classroom supplies such as, construction paper, markers, colored pencils and pens.

Remember, if you can’t attend the game, Four Oaks Bank or KS Bank location will be accepting donations on behalf of Camp Challenge. Thank you in advance for your support.

Plan to attend the “Battle of the Banks” to cheer on the players and help KS Bank and Four Oaks Bank support Camp Challenge.  For more information contact Nikki Murray at nmurray@ksbankinc.com(919) 938-2648, or Martha Garris at mlgarris@fouroaksbank.com, (919) 963-1166.
