Customers and employees at Bojangles’ on Highway 42 near I-40 were evacuated from the restaurant around 9:30 Wednesday night after smoke began filling up the lobby.

Three fire departments responded to the scene and found the smoke was originating from an HVAC unit on the roof, which had apparently been worked on recently. Firefighters disconnected the HVAC unit and removed smoke from the restaurant.

No one was injured and no damage to the building was reported.

The Cleveland, Clayton, and Garner Fire Departments responded to the scene. Johnston County EMS also had a paramedic crew to stand by at the scene. Photos courtesy JoCoFire.com
