The Town of Clayton’s Electric Department was honored recently by the American Public Power Association as 2015 RP3 Gold Award winner.

Clayton was among only 90 utilities selected to receive this honor, according to Dale Medlin, the town’s Electric Systems Director.  Of over 2,000 Public Providers nationwide, only 191 are currently recognized as RP3 compliant.

Medlin announced the award at the July 20 town council meeting. To attain an RP3 designation, utilities are judged by a panel of 18 of their industry peers from across the country. The department was recognized for their system reliability, safety improvements, work force development and system improvements.

“It means we’re always looking to improve the electric system to ensure that Town of Clayton customers have reliable power,” said Medlin.
