Two Wake County men were arrested at a license check point on Landmark Road in western Johnston County Wednesday night.
Johnston County Sheriff SAFE Team deputies were conducting the checking station around 7:30pm when the driver of a white Ford passenger car stopped and said he didn’t have a license. Deputies also noticed open beer containers inside the vehicle.
While attempting to search the car, the passenger fled on foot. He was caught near a wooded area attempting to dispose of multiple small baggies of heroin, along with marijuana and oxycodone pills.
Officers said they found additional baggies of heroin inside the vehicle.
A total of 66 small bindles of heroin, 10 oxycodone pills, and a small amount of marijuana was reportedly seized from the suspects and their vehicle.
The driver, Aaron David Bauerle, 43, and passenger, Jermaine Judd, 32, both of Raleigh were arrested on numerous drug offenses.
Bauerle was also charged with driving while impaired. His bail was set at $46,000.
Judd was held under a $65,000 bond.
