Smithfield Police seized over 17 grams of marijuana and four weapons from a home overnight.
It started around 9:30pm Tuesday. Officers received a call from a woman who was crying and scared. Police responded to a located on Broadway Street but couldn’t find the caller. While looking for the woman they were approached by a man carrying a small baby. He told them the woman was in a nearby home.
Police went to the home to check on the woman’s well-being. While at the address they detected a strong odor of marijuana and secured the residence until they could return with a search warrant.
Early Wednesday morning, police searched the home and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, 3 handguns and a shotgun. One of the guns had been reported stolen in Indiana.
Curtis Lamonte Bryant, 32, of 1034 Broadway Street, was charged with several offenses including possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a stolen firearm.
Bryant was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $30,000 bond.
