Marines Taking Care Of Marines

Jim-Mitchell-FIThe Johnston County Marine Corp League was recently invited to the Gabriel Manor Assisted Living Home located in Clayton, by Activity Director Sarah Ellen Middendorf (center), to pay respects to 82 year-old Korean War Marine Veteran Jim Mitchell.

Commandant Timothy Daniel and Eagle Scout Coordinator Lewis W. Rice III of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment #1236 shared stories with Jim while he gave them a history lesson on his life and times in the Korean War from 1950-1952.

The Korean War is often called “The Forgotten War”, but not to the Marines that served and the Marines that followed. It began when communist North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950. When the war ended in 1953, Korea was still divided and it still remains that way today.

Thanks for sharing Marine Mitchell – Semper Fi!
