A mother is facing criminal charges for allegedly driving drunk with her 3 year-old child in her vehicle.
Around 11:00pm Monday, Smithfield Police received a report from a concerned citizen about a driver in a Ford Mustang stopped in a business parking lot on Highway 210 near US 70.
An officer reportedly found 35 year-old Rebecca Lee Williams of Satinwood Drive, Clayton inside the car. Williams was arrested and later registered 0.15 on the breathalyzer, nearly double the legal limit of 0.08 in North Carolina.
Police also charged Williams with child abuse for allegedly placing her child in danger while driving drunk.
She was released on a $5,000 bond pending a June 7th court appearance.
