Police Identify Man Killed At Selma Motel

Selma Police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed at the Masters Inn last week.

Horace Thomas Troublefield, 64, of Angier was at the motel on US 70 around 3:00am last Tuesday, May 17th when he was involved in an altercation with a woman.  During the altercation, Troublefield was shot once. He died from his injuries. The female, whose name has not been released, was shot in the arm. She was treated and released at the hospital.

Captain R.L. Daniels said detectives have questioned the woman but are not releasing any additional details about the incident at this time.

Officials said last week the man and woman knew one another and the incident may have been domestic related. Police also said last week alcohol may have played a factor.

Selma Police are working with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office in the ongoing investigation.  Assistant District Attorney Paul Jackson said no additional information can be released to avoid compromising the integrity of the investigation.  “We will disclose more information at the appropriate time,” Jackson said in an email.
