Police Investigating Break-Ins

Smithfield Police are investigating two break-ins reported Thursday.

Between 10:30am and 11:30am someone forced open the rear door to a home on Dogwood Street and stole $500 in cash from the residence. No one was at home at the time.

Around 3:45pm, an elderly resident reported their home on East Davis Street was entered and a Ruger .45 firearm was stolen.

Four other break-ins has been reported this month in Smithfield.

On May 6th, a glass door was shattered at Triangle Wireless at 1006 N. Brightleaf Boulevard but no items were taken.  On May 11th, $4,038 in electronics and jewelry was stolen from a home on West Market Street in West Smithfield after the door was kicked in.  A similar break-in was reported on Oak Street.

On May 22nd, thieves stole 5 pair of women’s shoes, a bed, TV set, and a couch from a home on North 7th Street during a break-in.

Police have not said if any of the break-ins could be connected but all remain under investigation.
