Riverwood Middle School won the Johnston County Schools’ 2015 Middle School Battle of the Books competition held. All middle schools in the district participated in the competition with roughly 150 students involved.
Members of the Riverwood Middle Battle of the Books team are Lianna Fox, Alyssa Jennens-Cheong, Kelsi Keys, Tyler Mason, Kara Matthews, Leslie Neal, Tarynn Neal, Bella Pettit, Jennifer Sieredzki, Mackenzie Sizemore, Carter Stoke, and Claire White. Team coaches are Sarah Lee and Jenny Pitts.
The team from Riverwood Middle School represented Johnston County Schools in the Regional Battle of the Books competition at Surge Center in Wilson. The team came in second place out of 11 counties in regional competition in Wilson. This was a very close battle with only a 2-point difference between the winner and the Riverwood team.
