School Board Approves Personnel Changes

Crystal Roberts has been named the Chief of Communication and Engagement with Johnston County Schools. She begins work on Monday, May 1st.

The Johnston County School Board has approved several personnel changes including the hiring of Crystal Roberts, the former Public Information Officer for Johnston County Schools under former superintendent Dr. James Causby.

Mrs. Roberts will begin work on Monday, May 1st as the Chief of Communication and Engagement.  Her contract will be for three years.

Also Monday, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Eddie Price will assume the role as Deputy Superintendent.  There has been no deputy superintendent since Dr. Renfrow was promoted out of this position to superintendent in March 2016.  “We’ve tried it without one,” Dr. Renfrow told WTSB News on Monday. “I think we need one.”

Marcus Green, who currently works in Curriculum Instruction and Accountability has been named the new principal of a new Lab School.  Superintendent Dr. Ross Renfrow said the location of the new lab school has not been determined hut two to three sites are currently being studied for the facility. One of those sites is the South Campus school in East Smithfield.

Area Superintendent Dolores Gill will become the Chief of Staff, a new position, effective Monday. In the position she will oversee day to day operations including facility services, which was previously handled by Jake Jacobs before his recent retirement.

Chief Personnel Officer Brian Vetrano will assume the title of Chief of Human Capital on Monday. Dr. Renfrow said Vetrano’s duties will remain the same however he will have a new title.
