Jerica Sittig, a sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at Selma Middle, has been named the winner of the school’s Crystal Apple Award.

The Crystal Apple Award is a collaborative effort between Selma Middle School and the Horace Mann company to honor school personnel. The award is available to any faculty or staff member who goes above and beyond their duties to help students or to help colleagues and enhance the quality of service provided to the Selma Middle community.

According to Dorothy Finiello, information liaison for the school, Sittig is wonderful teacher that is very involved in the school and makes it a better place.

Sittig serves as a hall leader and a School Improvement Team member. She also designs meaningful, engaging lessons for her students on a daily basis and is one of the go to people for working in groups and stations.

“Though she does all of these things for Selma Middle, she rarely seeks recognition,” said Finiello. “Ms. Sittig is a natural born leader and is more than deserving of the SMS Cystal Apple Award.”
