The Town of Archer Lodge swore in Kimberly P. Batten as their newest employee on Monday night.

Batten will serve a dual role of Town Clerk and Finance Manager for the town. Johnston County Clerk of Court Michelle Ball administered the oath of office to Batten, while her mother and daughter looked on. Batten previously served as the finance director for the Town of Selma and replaces Jean Overton who resigned last month.

“I’m looking forward to this new position and getting started,” said Batten, who plans on moving to the Archer Lodge area in the coming weeks. “It’s a nervous kind of excitement.  Her first day on the job will be Sept. 21.
