1 Arrested, 1 Wanted For Comic Book, Trading Card Thefts

Smithfield Police have arrested one person and are asking for assistance locating a second person wanted for the theft of a comic book and baseball card collection stolen from a home last month.

Police actually recovered the collection before the owner realized it had been stolen.

On June 21st, officers responded to an unrelated disturbance call. At the home, police noticed the extensive comic book and card collection with the owners name inside some of the items.  Police contacted the owner who had not yet discovered the storage shed to his home in the 500 block of S. 4th Street had been burglarized and the $1,500 collection stolen.

On June 26th, Antwaine Decarrius Monk was arrested at the NC Probation & Parole Office in Smithfield and charged with felony possession of stolen property.

Warrants have been obtained for Lajarvis Marquiz Jones, a 29 year-old male, 5 foot 11, 190 pounds. He has a “Jarvis” tattoo on his left arm and a set of praying hands. He has a “Jarvis” tattoo on his right neck. Once located Jones will also be charged with felony possession of stolen property.
