1 Dead, 1 Injured In Motorcycle Crash

MICRO – One person died and another was seriously injured after a motorcycle and pickup truck collided Wednesday afternoon.  The crash was reported just before 6:00pm on Highway 301 at Pittman Road near Micro.

According to the State Highway Patrol a white Ram pickup truck was traveling on Pittman Road. The driver reportedly pulled from the stop sign into the path of a black motorcycle traveling on Highway 301. 

There were two people on the motorcycle. A male victim died at the scene.  A female was transported to WakeMed with serious injuries.  The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Highway 301 was closed for nearly two hours before reopening. 

Troopers at the scene tell Johnston County Report that charges are pending.

The Micro Fire Department, Johnston County EMS, and Johnston County Medical Examiner responded to the accident.  The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office assisted with detouring traffic off Highway 301 for approximately two hours until the scene was cleared.

  1. I agree with B. Yes bikes are dangerous Carl, if the rider is not paying attention however people need to pay attention too. Bikers can’t stop as fast as a car and this biker died minding his own business.

  2. People MUST pay attention. Motorcyclists have just as much right to be on the road as a car/truck! PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE!!!

  3. Carl. Really. I’m trying to be as nice as possible. BUT this tragic accident was not the bikers fault. Even if the couple would have been in a car it would have been a tragic accident. So driver safety is everyone’s responsibility. I’ve seen accidents where cars have literally ran over a biker at a stop light that is red. I feel for all families involved. It was an accident.
