PRINCETON – A Johnston County teenager was arrested inside a home he had reportedly just burglarized. Eighteen year-old Tyrese Devon Whitley of Oakley Drive, Princeton was arrested around 3:00am Sunday, June 27th by Johnston County deputies.
The 18 year-old female victim told authorities she was asleep inside her home on Highway 70-A near Princeton when she was awakened by the sound of someone in her bedroom. The suspect reportedly began touching her inappropriately.
The victim was able to call for help. Deputies arrived and found an open door and heard the female inside yelling for help. Officers made entry and located Whitley as he reportedly walked out of the victim’s bedroom with his hands in the air.
Whitley was arrested without further incident. He was charged with first-degree burglary and sexual battery. He placed in the the Johnston County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
Sheriff’s investigators said the victim was acquainted with Whitley but had not seen him in more than 2 years and they were never in a dating relationship.
