2021 JCPS Teacher Of The Year Selected

The 2021 Flame For Learning Award, Johnston County Public School’s Teacher of the Year, was awarded today (Wednesday).

Through a blind judging process, twenty semifinalists were selected to move on to the interview phase and submitted a Best Practice from the classroom. The twenty semifinalists represented fourteen schools from all across Johnston County.

Three innovative teachers were chosen as finalists for the award: Janna Rogerson of Princeton Elementary, Heather Best of River Dell Elementary, and Rachel Langdon of Clayton High.

The 2021 Flame For Learning recipient is Brian Jones, band teacher at Smithfield-Selma High. He will move forward to represent Johnston County in the regional competition.

The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce presented the award.
