A 21 year-old woman was injured Tuesday in a single car accident. Smithfield Police said the crash was reported at 12:38am on Brogden Road at Blount Street.
Esperanza Natalia Rivera of Smithfield was traveling westbound on Brogden Road when her 2010 Honda ran off the roadway to the right and collided with a fire hydrant and tree. Rivera told police she did not remember what happened. An accident report said there was no sign of impairment.
Rivera, the only occupant in the car, was transported to WakeMed with non life threatening injuries.
No charges were filed.
Damage to the Honda was estimated at $8,000. Damage to the fire hydrant was placed at $350.
