CLAYTON – On Thursday, November 3, shortly before 5:00am, Clayton Police responded to shots fired at the Circle K convenience store on US 70. Officers found the store clerk locked in a restroom and discovered windows shattered at the Circle K as well as the front glass at an adjacent Food Lion and Queen Nails and Spa. Employees were inside the Food Lion at the time of the shooting.
Investigators located numerous fired shell casings in the parking lot of the Circle K and in the parking lot of the shopping center behind the store.
Based on witness statements and surveillance footage obtained, two people began arguing in the store and moved out into the parking lot. One of the individuals got into a gray Toyota Avalon and exited the parking lot following an unknown white Nissan SUV.
A person in a black in color Dodge Challenger began exchanging gunfire with the occupants in the Toyota Avalon. One of the individuals in the Toyota Avalon, identified as Marquise LeShawn Taylor was struck in the leg by a bullet.
Police said numerous rounds were fired between the two vehicles as they followed one another through the parking lot.
Clayton Police have obtained arrest warrants on Reginald Derrell Sanders, Jr. for two counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and structure, and damage to property. Sanders is not currently in custody.
Additional charges against others are expected.
A prime example of why everyone should support stricter gun laws and enforcement.
Time to start enforcing the gun laws we have. Then we won’t need new laws.
Criminals will always find a way to obtain guns. Gun laws only affect law abiding citizens, not criminals.

Criminals will always be able to obtain guns illegally-assault rifles, any type of firearm they want. The only thing stricter gun laws will affect would be the rights of law abiding citizens who simply want to be able to defend themselves and their children against the criminals with illegal guns. There is no gun law that this type of person will follow, they simply don’t obey any laws.
Do you really think, even for a moment, that these suspects bought their weapons legally and had background checks? So much for your “stricter gun laws” argument.
We do NOT need stricter gun laws…..we need stricter PARENTS when these youngins are learning the value of human life. And we need people to start abiding by the laws that are already on the books and if they don’t, they need to have consequences instead of these little slaps on the wrists that we’ve all been witnessing lately.

Oh yeah, because the law really prevents shootings like this. Do you even hear yourself? My rights are up for negotiation because a violent criminal decided to be violent. This just proves why everyone NEEDS a gun. Protect yourself because when police are minutes away, seconds can mean life and death.
