The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and NC Highway Patrol arrested three people during a weekend traffic stop. Around 1:40am Saturday, a state trooper stopped a vehicle on Langdon Pointe Drive at Cleveland Road. The driver, Sherrill Lee Bryant, 33, of Allen Road, Clayton was arrested by the trooper for driving while impaired and driving on a revoked license.
During the traffic stop the trooper searched the car and reportedly found a small bag of white powder believed to be cocaine. The trooper requested a deputy respond to the scene to assist.
The deputy arrived and reportedly asked two passengers to exit the car and sit beside the vehicle. A few minutes later, when the two passengers were asked to move, another bag containing a small amount of suspected cocaine was allegedly found on the ground where they had been sitting. The passengers claimed the narcotics belonged to the other person.
The deputy charged both passengers, Shari Nowlin, 34, of Presley Boulevard, Garner and Gabriel Padron-Chavez, 19, of Cornwallis Road, Garner with felony possession of cocaine. Bryant, the driver, was also charged with felony possession of cocaine.
Bryant was given a $3,500 bond at the Johnston County Jail. Nowlin and Padron-Chavez were given $5,000 bonds each.
