A total of 36 marijuana plants were seized Wednesday. Sampson County sheriff’s deputies said they received a tip about the plants being grown near a pond near the intersection of LP Brewer Road and Beulah Road outside of Clinton.
Special Investigations Division (SID) officers arrived on the scene and found the 3 dozen plants, which had a potential street value of up to $90,000. A search warrant was obtained for the residence of Johnny Preston Brewer who lived nearby. Agents said they found items consistent with manufacturing marijuana inside. Brewer was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the manufacture of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
The plants were seized by investigators.
