Five young suspects ranging in age from 16 to 18 are all facing felony charges after being linked by law enforcement officers to a Benson area robbery. It happened around 2:30AM Monday on Highway 210 just west of the Interstate 40 interchange in the McGee’s Crossroads community.
An 18 year-old Raleigh teen said he was lured to the location, assaulted, then robbed. The victim said he had a Glock firearm stolen during the robbery.
Johnston County deputies were on the scene speaking with the victim when some of the suspects reportedly drove by in a car. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and later charged five suspects for their alleged involvement.
Jaylen Ahmad McDougald, 18, of Penwood Road, Willow Spring and Jaquaveon Martesse Hampton, 16, of Buck Place, Willow Spring were both charged with common law robbery, larceny of a firearm and felony conspiracy. McDougald was also charged with possession of marijuana. McDougald was held under a $200,500 bond. Hampton was jailed under a $200,000 bond.
Ayanna Janitra Finch, 18, of Blackberry Creek Drive, Willow Spring; Randolph Kayla Randolph, 18, of Blackberry Creek Drive, Willow Spring; and Abby Marie Vaughan, 16, of Capital Boulevard, Raleigh were allo charged with felony conspiracy. All three were placed in the Johnston County Jail under $100,000 bonds.
The robbery still remains under investigation and no additional details were released pending the ongoing investigation.
