Five members of the same Johnston County family ended up in jail after authorities said they attempted to prevent deputies and social workers from leaving a home with a four month old baby.
Wednesday night, Johnston County deputies were called to assist the Johnston County Department of Social Services at a home in the 1400 block of Landmark Road off Highway 210 in the Willow Spring community.
Social workers had obtained a court order to take custody of the small baby and asked deputies to assist.
At the home, four family members stepped in preventing the officers and social workers from leaving with the child. The mother, Bianca Shanta Hampton, 26, of 1425 Landmark Road, Willow Spring, reportedly fled out the back door with the child during the altercation.
Deputies called for backup and with the assistance of other officers were able to arrest the four family members. Following a brief search, Hampton was found with the 4 month-old child at a nearby home. The child was placed in the custody of social workers.
Hampton was charged with felony abduction of a child. She was jailed under a $50,000 bond.
Dante Jamal Robinson, 24; Nicholas Allen Stewart, 17; Javon Dashon Stewart, 16; all of 1425 Landmark Road, and Joshua Leverne McPhaul, 27 of 302 Westwind Drive, Benson were charged with resisting a public officer. Robinson, Nicholas and Javon Stewart were given $25,000 bond. McPhaul was given a $5,000 bond at the Johnston County Jail.
No officers or social workers were injured.
