The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office issued a total of 67 charges during SAFE Team checkpoints Friday night and Saturday including a large checkpoint on Princeton-Kenly Road at Rhodes Road in eastern Johnston County.
Sheriff’s Captain Danny Johnson said SAFE Team deputies seized methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, a stolen car, stolen firearm, $320 in counterfeit money and apprehended 4 wanted persons during the operation.
A total of 10 people were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, 7 for driving on a revoked license, 4 for operating a vehicle with no license, 7 for registration or insurance violations, 6 for possessing marijuana, and two for prescription pills.
Among those charged in the SAFE team checkpoints:
Scotty Eugene Davis, 31, of Boyettes Pond Road, Pikeville was arrested for possession of meth, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of counterfeit money, and assault on a government official. Bail was set at $250,000.
James Thomas Wiggs, 36, of Jerry Road, Selma was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cardell Williams, 56, of Dorothy Drive, Clayton was charged with possession of a stolen firearm.
Ten people were taken to the Johnston County Jail on their charges. The remaining individuals were cited and released at the scene.
