7 Pounds Of Methamphetamine Seized During I-40 Traffic Stop

7 pounds of crystal ice meth seized from a car during a traffic stop on I-40 at I-95 near Benson by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office released details of a June 2018 traffic stop on Interstate 40 that resulted in the discovery of 7 pounds of crystal ice methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $300,000.

On June 10th, sheriff’s patrol deputies and narcotics officers stopped a car in the eastbound travel lanes of I-40 near I-95 outside of Benson.  A sheriff’s K-9 alerted on the vehicle and during a search the illegal narcotics were reportedly found.

Orlando Sancez Caballero, 38, of Dudley was arrested on multiple drug trafficking offenses.  Caballero was one of two inmates who attempted to escape from the Johnston County Jail Tuesday night but never made it outside the facility.

Caballero had been held under a $350,000 bond prior to the escape attempt. After the incident a magistrate increased his bail to $1,350,000.

Authorities just released details of the major drug bust today because of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
