A man accused of shooting a 7 year-old girl during a drive-by shooting is being held under a half-million dollar bond.
Around 7:30pm Thursday, the Nash County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting in the 2000 block of Old White Oak Road near Nashville. First responders discovered the 7 year-old had been in the living room when she was shot in the shoulder. The child was rushed by EMS to Wake Medical Center. The condition of the child has not been released.
Deputies were on the scene of the shooting when they were dispatched to a separate disturbance call a short distance away in the 1400 block of Green Road. While on scene of the disturbance between a mother and son, officers were able to determine that the son, 23 year-old Jhosmin Sandoval, was involved in the drive-by shooting on Old White Oak Road.
Sandoval was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed and subsequently charged.
Investigators are still investigating the motive but say it appears that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Sandoval and a person who lived at the home on Old White Oak Road.
Sandoval is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and attempting to destroy/alter evidence. His first appearance is set for Sept. 10th in Nash County District Court.
