KENLY – A 76 year-old man was arrested after law enforcement officers responded to a reportedly road rage incident around 6:00pm Friday, July 31st on Zelma Road outside Kenly. Deputies said the caller reported a road rage incident had occurred with another vehicle and they were threatened with a firearm but not physically injured.
While responding to the scene, deputies spotted a white Toyota passenger car sitting beside Zelma Road that matched the description of the other vehicle involved. Officers said they made contact with the driver, Charles Ralph Hodge of Beulahtown Road, Kenly who denied any knowledge of a road rage incident. Deputies said there was a 14 year-old child in Hodge’s vehicle.
Officers said Hodge appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and reportedly found a 22 caliber handgun in his possession.
Hodge was arrested for driving while impaired, misdemeanor child abuse and a concealed gun permit violation while consuming alcohol. He later registered 0.14 on the Breathalyzer, according to a report.
Hodge was released on a $3,500 secured bond. There were no charged filed in connection with the road rage incident.
