Accident Victim Breaks Into Home As Family Flees To Safety, Report Says

MICRO – A Johnston County family fled into the woods after a woman they did not know, and armed with a handgun, broke into their home. It happened after the suspect wrecked her car.

The bizarre chain of events started around 11:00pm Tuesday. Authorities believe Carol Long Tramell, age 56, of Sunnybrook Drive, Wilson, NC was involved in a motor vehicle accident near Micro.

Tramell made her way to a nearby home on Trailer Park Road while yelling and acting erratically, authorities said. Tramell attempted to gain entry into home without success. She then went to the victim’s vehicle and sat inside. She then made her way back to the home and this time was able to gain entry.

Fearing for their safety, the 40 year-old victim and their children fled into the woods.

Deputies arrived on the scene and reportedly found Tramell standing in the front door to the residence. A 22 caliber revolver was located in her possession.

Tramell faces several charges including first degree burglary, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and carrying a concealed gun. She was transported to the Johnston County Jail and held under a $100,000 bond.

The victim did not know Tramell and authorities don’t know why she went to that particular address. No injuries were reported.
