Arrest Made During Drug Deal Robbery

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with the robbery of a buyer during a drug deal gone bad.

On March 4th, a 22 year-old man said he agreed to meet an acquaintance in a parking lot near the intersection of Highway 210 and I-40 outside of Benson to buy marijuana.  The man told deputies he was planning to buy 3.5 grams of marijuana for $45 for personal use.  But when he arrived at the meeting place, the man said the alleged seller pulled out a handgun and took his cash and a gold chain he was wearing.

Deputies have now charged 23 year-old Sawyer Chase Ryder Crowder of the 500 block of Wiggins Road, Angier with felonious robbery with a dangerous weapon.  He was jailed Friday under a $50,000 secured bond.

The victim was not injured during the robbery.
