Arrest Made In Assault Of Elderly Handicapped Woman

An arrest has been made in the assault of a 77 year-old handicapped woman inside her Johnston County home.

The assault occurred on Oct. 10th but was reported until Oct. 13th.  The victim, who lives on Highway 301 in Micro, was allegedly grabbed by the neck and choked. The victim was then punched in the head and body by the suspect, 19 year-old Bryan Douglas Jomp.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said Jomp was the nephew of the elderly victim and also lived in her home.

Jomp was arrested Saturday and charged with felony assault on a handicapped person and felony assault by strangulation.

The elderly woman was transported by Johnston County EMS to the hospital for treatment of her 3-day old wounds.

Jomp was confined in the Johnston County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
