Arrest Made In Burglary, Car Theft

Clayton Police arrested a 40 year-old man Friday on outstanding warrants for first-degree burglary, larceny of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and assault on a female.

Police had been looking for Joe Benton Armstrong since he allegedly broke into an apartment, through the window, on Oct. 24th. The apartment was occupied by his girlfriend and the mother of his two children. Armstrong allegedly struggled with the woman and tried to take one of the children. Instead he fled with her keys and purse and drove away in her car.

Armstrong was spotted by probation officers on Lombard Street. They called Clayton Police who took him into custody on the warrants without further incident.
