Arrest Made In Construction Site Thefts

Thanks to a concealed GPS tracking unit, a Kenly man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in thefts from two Johnston County new home construction sites this month.

On May 11th, a Wake County landscaping company reported a $4,000 auger attachment for a skid steer had been stolen from a construction site in the Flowers Plantation community off Buffalo Road. That same day, a Willow Spring contractor reported a 16 foot trailer left at a job site off Highway 231 in Corinth Holders had been stolen.

The owner of the trailer said they had previously installed a GPS tracking device on the piece of equipment.  Authorities located the auger and trailer outside of Selma.  The auger had been repainted and the serial number removed but it was identified by the owner.

Joseph Robert Davis, 44, of the 1800 block of Creech Church Road, Kenly was charged by Johnston County sheriff’s detectives on May 17th with two counts of felony larceny, two counts of felony conspiracy, and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.
