SMITHFIELD – An ongoing investigation into a February 3 shooting has resulted in an arrest.
Garrett Thomas West, of N. Raiford Street, Selma, was arrested on April 5 and charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property and felony conspiracy.
On the day of the incident, shots were fired into an occupied home on Melvin Court, off Braswell Road, east of Smithfield. No one inside the home was injured.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said additional charges are possible.
Garrett West was recently involved in another incident with law enforcement. On February 16, the 25 year-old man reportedly led Johnston County deputies on a brief chase on US 70 Business before stopping on Gordon Road. He faces multiple charges.
Nothing about this guys face indicates he will ever be a productive member of society. He appears totally wasted mentally. Drugs are a horrible thing.
