Arrest Made In Home Invasion

A Smithfield man was arrested hours after a home invasion was reported near Selma.

Around midnight Tuesday, a 32 year-old woman reported a man broke into her home and car on Buffalo Road about 7 miles north of Selma.  The suspect fled into a wooded area before officers arrived but was captured several hours later.

Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the incident was not random and was domestic related.

Desean Sanchess Farmer, 25, of the 3300 block of Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield was charged with first-degree burglary, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny, and violating a domestic violence protection order.

Farmer was jailed under a $150,000 bond. The victim was not harmed.
