Arrest Made In Stabbing Outside Convenience Store

Police believe a chance meeting outside a convenience store resulted in the stabbing of a 41 year-old Kenly man.

Kenly Police responded to a disturbance call in the parking lot of the Circle K at 402 S Church Street around 9:30 Monday night.  Officers found the victim had been stabbed in the arm and was bleeding profusely.

Johnston County EMS rushed the victim to Wake Medical Center for treatment. The victim was later released from the hospital.

The suspect left the scene before police arrived, however on Tuesday 44 year-old Monte Wayne Lloyd of Kenly turned himself in.  He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Police Chief Josh Gibson said the victim and suspect knew one another and had issues in the past.  The two men happened to show up at the convenience store at the same time and a verbal altercation turned violent.

Chief Gibson said no additional charges are anticipated.
