Arrests Made In Smithfield Business Robberies

Smithfield Police have arrested 3 people they say are responsible for three armed robberies at businesses on Brightleaf Boulevard dating back to December.

The same suspects are also charged with a string of robberies during the same time period in Wilson County.

Frenchie Willie Hooks Jr., 40, of Four Oaks; Teresa Michelle McDougald, 41, of Benson; and James Winfred Hall Jr., 44, of Wilson were already in custody for the robberies in Wilson, including a January hold up at an adult novelty store.

On December 23, 2017, the suspects are accused of robbing the Advance Auto at 110 N. Brightleaf Boulevard. During the holdup,  a lone suspect entered the business, produced a handgun and at gunpoint removed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before fleeing.

On January 6th, a lone suspect entered Boost Mobile at 1006 N. Brightleaf Boulevard, displayed a black semi-automatic firearm and demanded money before fleeing. A police K-9 tracked the suspect but the robber still managed to get away.

The third robbery was reported on January 18th, at Dollar General at 829 S. Brightleaf Boulevard.  Employees said a man wearing a ski mask entered the store and at gunpoint took an undisclosed amount of money and 4 cartons of Newport cigarettes.   No injuries were reported in the three robberies.
