Attempted Robbery Of Delivery Driver Reported

CLAYTON – A pizza delivery driver says someone tried to rob him at gunpoint while making a delivery. The incident was reported at 5:38pm Sunday in the North Farm Subdivision off South Murphrey Road.

The 20 year-old driver said he was making a pizza delivery in the 100 block of North Farm Drive and stopped momentarily along the street to confirm the numerical address. While stopped in his car, a SUV pulled up beside of him and the suspect exited the vehicle shouting “I know you’ve got money on you!” while reportedly brandishing a handgun.

The driver said he sped away and called for help. He was not injured.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the white male suspect was operating a newer model black Ford Explorer with tinted windows. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact sheriff’s investigators at 919-989-5000.
