Benson Man Arrested For Violent Attack On Girlfriend, JCSO Says

A 29 year-old Benson man is facing felony assault charges after authorities said he seriously injured his girlfriend during a domestic related assault.  The incident was reported around 4:30pm last Thursday.

The 30 year-old victim told Johnston County deputies the assault took place at a home the couple shared in the 4400 block of Elevation Road outside of Benson.   The victim reportedly told authorities that she and her boyfriend had just returned home from a trip to a local ABC Store when they began arguing.  During the argument, Bradley Wayne Barefoot allegedly pushed the female victim to the floor and began kicking her in the face with his foot.

The victim fled to a nearby home and summoned help. Deputies said the victim suffered severe facial injuries including swelling, a laceration and bleeding. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Barefoot was arrested on Friday and charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.  He was held without bond pending his first court appearance.
