Benson Man Linked To Identity Theft Of 88 Year-Old Relative

Felony charges have been lodged against a 30 year-old Benson man who allegedly stole the identity of his 88 year-old grandfather.

The elderly victim reported in August someone used his name and personal information to open up an account with Fingerhut, an online retailer. After the account was established,  $732 in charges were made to the account.

Following a month long investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, authorities arrested the victim’s grandson, 30 year-old Michael Graham Suggs of Godwin Road, Benson on Monday.

Suggs was charge with four felonies including 3 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of identity theft.

Suggs was incarcerated in the Johnston County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
