Benson’s Marcus Badgett, 58, was sent back to jail for allegedly hitting his 74-year-old mother in the head with a rake hours after police say he was released from the Johnston County Detention Center on another charge Nov. 14. He also allegedly hit a passing vehicle with the rake, according to Benson police.

Badgett’s mother told cops she had just brought her son home from the jail when he suddenly became irate and began to hit her in the back of the head with a rake. The woman told police she believed her son had been using an unknown illegal substance. Shortly afterwards, Badgett hit a passing Toyota Camry with the rake causing approximately $100 in damage to the car, according to police records.

Both Badgett’s mother and the passing motorist contacted the Benson Police Department. An investigator was unsuccessful in contacting Badgett after knocking on the door several times.

Later the same day, the investigator returned to Badgett’s home and served an arrest warrant charging him with one count of assault on a female. He was taken before Johnston County Magistrate S.A. Wood and booked under a $2,000 bond. He was later released.

Badgett is scheduled to appear in court on December 13.

  1. Folks, we have activist magistrates here to in NC. You don’t have to go to Wisconsin to find activist magistrates that let dangerous people in and out of a revolving door to become a Christmas parade murder. The Socialist Democrats have made sure they are in every State and County.
