Benson Woman Linked To Pocketbook Theft, Credit Card Fraud

Security video at two businesses helped Johnston County deputies make a quick arrest in the theft of a pocketbook taken from an Angier woman on Sunday.  The 25 year-old woman was shopping at the Food Lion on Highway 210 near McGee’s Crossroads when she lost her pocketbook.

The victim discovered a credit card in her pocket book had been used minutes later at the Sheetz on Highway 210 at Highway 50.

Deputies reviewed video surveillance footage from the Food Lion and Sheetz and were able to obtain a description of the suspect and a license plate number on their vehicle.

Sunday night, officers arrested 38 year-old Kimberly Ruth Stanfield of Banner Elk Road, Benson.   Stanfield was charged with five felonies including financial card theft, attempting to obtain property by false pretenses and 3 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses.  Bail was set at $35,000.
