Bond Increased For DWI Suspect After Drugs Found In Jail, JCSO Says

A woman arrested by Clayton Police on Monday for allegedly driving while impaired is facing felony drug charges after she allegedly brought cocaine into the Johnston County Jail.

Police arrested 27 year-old Kaylin Elizabeth Pepin of O’Hara Street, Clayton for DWI and failure to maintain lane control.  She was taken before a magistrate at the Johnston County Courthouse and taken to jail under a $1,500 bond.

While being processed into jail, a detention officer reportedly found a baggie with a white powdery substance that had been concealed in her undergarment.  Authorities allege the substance was suspected cocaine.

Pepin was subsequently charged by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance in jail or prison.  Her bond was increased an additional $20,000 to $21,500.
