Boyfriend Charged With Attempted Murder

BENSON – Two days after a woman was shot then run over with a vehicle, an arrest was made in the case. Joshua David Lassiter, 26, of Faith Church Road, Four Oaks was arrested September 12th in Harnett County.

On September 10th around 2:35am, deputies responded to an assault at a home in the 500 block of West Watson Road, Benson.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Lassiter’s girlfriend was in the process of moving out of his home. While sitting in a pickup truck outside the residence, Lassiter and the 46 year-old victim began arguing. During the verbal argument he pulled out a gun. When the victim tried to get out of the truck she was shot in the shoulder.

The woman fell to the ground. As Lassiter fled in the truck, the vehicle ran over her ankle.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Lassiter was returned from Harnett County and confined in the Johnston County Jail without bond.
