Boyfriend Mailed Drugs To Girlfriend In Jail, Sheriff’s Office Says

SMITHFIELD – Authorities have arrested three people after authorities said a man mailed drugs to his girlfriend in the Johnston County Jail. The incident had been under investigation since July by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Bryan Keith Hall, 40, of Cedar Creek Drive, Fayetteville is accused of mailing a controlled substance to his girlfriend, Christy Lee Berry, 32, of Hinnant-Edgerton Road, Kenly, while Berry was an inmate in the Johnston County Jail. A third person, Catherine Elizabeth Montague, 33, of Ferndale Drive, Garner, who was a former cellmate of Berry was also charged.

Hall was arrested Tuesday in Cumberland County with the assistance of the NC SBI. He was charged with several offenses including two counts of providing drugs to an inmate, two counts of deliver of a controlled substance and two counts of conspiracy.

Berry was charged with possession of a controlled substance in jail or prison and conspiracy. Montague was charged with felony conspiracy.

Authorities did not say what type of controlled substance Hall allegedly sent through the mail.
