RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a contract to rehabilitate two 60-year-old bridges in eastern Wake County.
The bridges to be repaired are the Poole Road and Mial Plantation Road structures over the Neuse River, which were built in 1959.
Both structures will receive similar treatments including joint and foundation rehabilitation, fresh paint, new traffic markings and symbols, and a new concrete surface to improve the ride quality. These repairs will extend the service life of each bridge.
The $3.1 million contract went to American Contracting & Services of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Work will begin this year and wrap up by the end of summer 2023.
