Brothers Charged In Clayton Shooting

Two brothers are behind bars after allegedly shooting an acquaintance in leg as they drove by his home in Clayton.

Clayton Police arrested 17-year-old Aaron Wallace and 24-year-old Jaquan Avery-Kennedy on Tuesday and charged them both with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Discharging a Firearm to Incite Fear.

A 19-year-old man was shot while sitting on his porch in the 200 block of N. Smith Street just before 8:00PM last Friday, Nov. 2nd.  Upon questioning, the victim later was able to help identify one of the suspects. The victim told police the suspect had previously accused him of stealing from him.

Police were later able to identify the two suspects as living several blocks away in Clayton and made the arrests without incident.

Based on prior convictions, a magistrate set Avery’s bond at $250,000 and Wallace is being held on a $75,000 bond at the Johnston County Jail.
