Business Rezoning Requests Approved

Johnston County Commissioners approved two rezoning requests that were before them at their November 2021 meeting.

The board unanimously approved the rezoning of a 1.65 acre tract of land at 4241 US Highway 70 East in Pine Level township from Industrial to General Business. The owner, SCD Investment, LLC of Greensboro, petitioned for the rezoning. No one spoke in opposition. The planning board had previously recommended approval.

DTJ Incorporated of Clayton was granted a rezoning request to change a 15.12 acre parcel in the 3300 block of NC Highway 42 West in the Clayton township from Agricultural Residential to General Business. During the September meeting of the Johnston County Planning Board a nearby resident, Jon Giggi, expressed concern about noise from any proposed commercial development. The planning board voted 5-to-0 to recommend approval. Commissioners agreed with the planning board recommendation and voted 7-to-0 for approval.
